Spies On The Beach

Spies on the beach
There are spies in our high lifeguard seats
Spies apply sunscreen on our future Miss Virginia
Spies on the beach
Parking cars for the czars of Palm Springs
Spies are caddying our Heisman trophy winners
Now that our love is a global concern I’m out
Maybe you’ll get what you always deserved but I’m out
Out of this sponsored eye
To the next galaxy
Spies on the beach
In the sand with suntanned inductees
Spies are retiring to our sunny Sarasota
Spies are on the beach
With the stars entourage windsurfing
Spies are catering to the heads of General Motors

Cathy was born on Sandy Hill Road
Just a five-minute walk to her dear Auntie Rose
Where she played everyday just after the war in the summer
Cathy grew tall she grew tall for fifteen
She learned shorthand and worked as a temp making tea
And she dated a ted while she dated a mod for a summer
And she’s never been so proud
Cathy grew up in London Town
Falling in love on a weeknight out
Walking down King Cross Road that summer
She gave half her pay to her poor Mum and Dad
Till she moved up to St. John’s Wood in a flat
With two sweet Jewish boys and her best friend from Eastbourne, Rhonda
Till one day she met a man in a Jag
From the pop music world with the dice in his hands
And they married one afternoon late one summer
And she’s never been so proud
She’s the life of every crowd
And she’s always going out
Cathy grew up in London Town
Falling in love on a weeknight out
The prettiest girl in all of Croydon
Cathy grew up in London Town
She always looked up when the world looked down
Walking home in the rain one summer
Cathy we love ya

It's Not About Us
04:11
|

It’s not about us
It’s not about any one thing
It’s time I brought up the way that I’m truly feeling
I’m not mad or confused
It was right for us to love
I’m truly glad I found you
But there’s more to life than us
It’s not about you
You couldn’t be more endearing
You know I’m for you
You know that I’m all for you
I want the chance to take risks
To live each day to the max
I can’t get trapped this is it
It’s too easy to lay back
It’s about me
Let me find a way to make each new day
Shine a little brighter
And it’s about dreams
That I’ve tucked away, girl
Ever since the day, girl
That we came together
To live one’s life in full
To can say that you’ve truly lived
Well I guess that I want it all
And I’m ready to begin
It’s not about us
It’s about a true life feeling
This means more than us
I’m talking ‘bout life’s true meaning

The Things I Do On Earth
04:15

Well I love to take her shopping in the capitals of the world
These are the things I do on earth
In Geneva I buy diamonds and in Brussels I buy pearls
These are the things I do on earth
Why the money is no object when your hobby is romance
These are the things I do on earth
So I will treat her to a night on Pennsylvania Avenue
These are the things I do on earth
These are the things I do on earth
That make me happy
So darn happy
That it almost seems absurd
To be me
Every minute that I’m with her I make sure she feels adored
These are the things I do on earth
I’ll take the presidential cabin at the foot of Mount Rushmore
With all the secret service perks
Then we’ll amble through Augusta ‘neath the Eisenhower pine
These are the things I do on earth
These are the things I do on earth
That make her happy
So darn happy
That it almost seems absurd
To love her
These are things I do on earth I do on earth for you
These are things I do on earth I do on earth for you
These are things I do on earth I do on earth for you
I still write a weekly column for the Washington bachelor
Whenever patronage concerns
And if I ever run for office I will ask her to be mine
These are the things we do on earth that make us happy
So darn happy that it almost seems absurd to be free

Last Place On Earth
03:25
|

Who’s great idea was this?
Some of us can’t even kiss anymore
Some of us can’t go outside
Some of us can’t even look at the moon
Why must we beg on the streets?
Some of us beg on the big city streets
Some of us can’t go to work anymore
How can you work when there’s love in the air?
This is no time for art
This is a time for community work
How can you work when there’s nothing to do but pretend that you’re flying like birds?
To the last place on earth
Why don’t we fall in love?
It’s the last place on earth for us
We can’t go on like this
Must our teenagers grow to be psychiatrists?
Some of us feel that we shouldn’t exist ‘coz there putting our memories on big epic screens
So sleep through the next civil war
Sleep in the beds in the furniture stores
Some of us don’t follow sports anymore
Some of us still go to school without food
This is no time for art
This is a time for community work
How can you work when there’s nothing to do but pretend that you’re flying like birds?
To the last place on earth
What a handsome idea
With a chance of romance
To the last place on earth
Why don’t we fall in love?
It’s the last place on earth for us
